Customs, Duties & Taxes

Cross-border industrial purchases involve charges applied by the destination country. This page states clearly who is responsible for them.

Last updated: January 15, 2026

1. General rule

Import duties, taxes, VAT/IVA, customs brokerage and any local charges in the destination country are the buyer's responsibility, unless the quotation explicitly states DDP (Delivered Duty Paid).

2. What is included in the price

  • The product price in USD.
  • Export handling and documentation from the shipping origin.
  • International freight, when the agreed Incoterm includes it (CPT, DAP, DDP).

3. What is not included

  • Import duties and tariffs in the destination country.
  • VAT / IVA and any local or provincial taxes.
  • Customs brokerage, storage and inspection fees.
  • Import licences or technical certifications required locally.

4. DDP quotations

Where the destination and product allow it, PROIND can quote DDP (Delivered Duty Paid), with duties and taxes prepaid and included in the total. DDP applies only when the quotation explicitly states it — it is never assumed.

5. Tax identification

Most South American customs authorities require the importer's tax identification (CUIT, RUT, NIT, RUC, RFC or equivalent) and, in several countries, an active importer registration. Providing this information with the quote request avoids clearance delays.

6. Classification and valuation

Commercial invoices always declare the real transaction value in USD. PROIND does not under-declare values, misdeclare goods or issue documents that misrepresent the shipment for customs purposes.
